Adam in the Big House

As I was walking home from work, Critical Mass was gearing up to leave Union Square. It looked like a good time, so I went home, pumped up some tires and Adam and I headed out to check out the scene. I've never actually ridden in a Critical Mass and this was apparently the biggest one.

After about 45 minutes or so we passed through Times Square.

As we approached 35th Street on 7th Avenue the bike traffic slowed to a halt as there was bike gridlock as bikes were turning onto 35th Street. Then seemingly out of nowhere police in riot gear started arresting people in the intersection. Adam had his camera out and started shooting this, getting pretty close. Too close it turns out as he got arrested too.

That was Friday at 9pm or so and it's now Saturday 11pm and he's still not out. Apparently if you don't get out before midnight you're there for the evening, so it looks like it's going to be two nights in jail for Adam. We suspect he's already been inducted into the tight Jewish gangs that so dominate the local jails. Anya spoke to him earlier today - they've managed to capture a roach and are looking for another in the hopes of conducting roach races.

Anya has coverage of the goings on during the RNC on her Village Voice blog.

Update: Adam came back last night at around 2.30am.

Kudos to Zach Braff

I would like to congratulate Zach Braff on his courageous accomplishment. He wrote and directed the recently released movie, Garden State, which in and of itself is an achievement given how lame the script is. But more to the point, you've got to hand it to him for managing to pull off a great ploy to make out with Natalie Portman on screen. Not to mention how cool he gets to be on screen - I mean he rides around in a World War II mortorcycle with sidecar, wearing a brain bucket, and a hot cooky chick gripping him tightly. Total score.

This is an outrage!

I bought some shares in Google today mostly because my roommate, Adam, works there and since I now own part of him he will henceforth do my bidding.

"Morning Adam, two eggs over medium with grated cheddar, two soysauges, and some whole wheat toast with marmalade, no make that raspberry jam, please."

"Certainly, sir."

[tick tock tick tock]

"Here you go."

"Where's my orange juice? This is an outrage!"

Criminal Mischief

Arielle, Anya, Nat and I (Adam couldn't come as he is currently overworking himself) headed up to Wellfleet, Cape Code last Friday to get in some beach and pond time and I guess just to get the hell out of the city. We were blessed with impeccable weather every single day and we had so much fun that it should have been illegal.

In fact some of it was illegal. Most notably, we resurrected a rope swing at a pond that had been previously slashed by the National Seashore park rangers, for liability reasons I s'pose. We did sustain some injuries, especially the severe bush whipping that Nat received, but nothing that a little wintergreen and epazote couldn't fix. The morning after our resurrection, we found our rope swing slashed once again. Those rangers certainly are industrious. Isn't this a violation of our right to the pursuit of happiness?
