570,000 Wal-Marts Left To GoAccording to this article a new Wal-Mart Supercenter opens every 1.65 days. So Terry and I were wondering how long it would take for Wal-Mart to reach a saturation point in the US. Say at saturation it's about 10 miles between each Wal-Mart, that's a maximum density one Wal-Mart for every 100 square miles. If it continues to grow at the same rate of a new store every 1.65 days, then by 2117 they'll have nowhere else to go in the US. Not to worry, they have until 3565 to saturate the rest of the world's land masses with a total of 570,000 stores. But who knows, polar ice caps melting, maybe they have less time than they think.

Back from ItalyWe got back from Italy early Monday evening. Good times in the bag. England was great even though I wish we had more time to migrate north to check out more English countryside or what's left of it. We did however catch some rather spiffing rowing sprints in Oxford complete with Pim's. Rather nice, what? Italy was a gastronomic delight. We bought a sandwich in the friggin train station - sardines, mozarella, tomato on a panini - and even that was delicious. Try that in Penn Station. Horrendous pictures to folllow! Update: The pictures have arrived.
