A big WOOHOO goes out

A big WOOHOO goes out to blogvoices.com for opening their doors again after a short outage. Double word scores go out to the kind folks who donated their services to keep blogvoices alive. In book news, I just recently finished Pimp by Iceberg Slim. Merav picked it up for me since my original copy was stolen in Morocco. I'm not sure Iceberg is the auteur that he claims to be, but it's definitely a gripping story and documentary of the American underworld during the 30s and 40s. One thing's for sure though, this book is rated N for Nasty. Think twice before getting this as a present for your lovely niece. Now, talk amongst yourselves. I'll give you a topic, "Nom-de-pimp, what's yours?"

So, you've probably noticed that

So, you've probably noticed that the discussion comments have disappeared. This is due to the fact that blogvoices.com has been shutdown because their hosting provider has deemed blogvoices.com to be in violation of their Terms of Service. What a stink... apparently though, somebody may have offered their services to keep blogvoices.com running. Fingers crossed!

Anya has noted that there

Anya has noted that there was an incorrect caption to one of Adam's pictures on his Morocoo 2001 page. It previously read, "They return victorious." Now it correctly reads, "Hey! We found invisible fish!"

How do you say spondooliks?

How do you say spondooliks? Here's what one Moroccan thinks.

It's official, readers, spondooliks has

It's official, readers, spondooliks has now become the most misspelled word of the English language. First "The New Yorker" and now dictionary.com seem to have misspelled what is perhaps one of the finest specimens of the English language. See the sacrilege for yourselves. Peace and double word scores go out to my homey Kasima, down there in crab country, for spotting this one.

Check out the action packed

Check out the action packed antics in Adam's collection of pictures from our Morocco trip. Adam's camera is pretty old, unlike my camera full of knick knacks and doodadgetry. Nevertheless, he's got some quality photos here so enjoy them now! Also note that my readers can now discuss my provocative content by clicking the "discuss" link below each posting (courtesy of blogvoices)

Good evening. This is Mike,

Good evening. This is Mike, not Alex. Alex is in the other room. Talking to Ben. I don't particularly know what they are talking about. It might be about the matinee that we just saw. "O Brother Where Art Thou." It's an o.k. movie to see at 4 p.m.

Anya has sighted a modern,

Anya has sighted a modern, American usage of the word spondooliks. We give them credit even though they spell it wrong:
The New Yorker, Dec. 25/Jan. 1 issue, p. 166: "The show is a kind of cash-flow analysis of the filthy rich, which follows the trail of gazillions of spondulicks as they play out over five generations of privilege."
Way to go Anya!

I've just completed the first

I've just completed the first cut of the Morocco photo page. There are quite a few pictures on the page, so it may take a while to load up, but I think you'll enjoy them. I'll be adding to the Morocoo page when we get Merav's audio recordings digitized and I get more pictures from the other guys and gals. I'm still not completely on US time, so I'm going to hit the sack with a thud. Good night!

Happy birthday to me! I

Happy birthday to me! I had champagne and chocolate on the plane back from Morocco today. We all had an amazing time. Now it's time to sleep and recover from a nice little stomach virus :) Pictures to follow soon.
