Today I leave for Morocco.Today I leave for Morocco. I had an "oh f**k" morning when I realized I was still sick, but Anya made some ginger, lemon, honey and echinacea potions to cure the sickness :) I'll be snapping many photos in Morocco and will post them up here as soon as I get back. In the meantime, I have some Hannukah and Christmas photos for you browsing pleasure.

After an uphill battle ofAfter an uphill battle of patience, holiday crowds, and Buffalo airport, I arrived in Pittsburgh in one piece. Got to see the family and friends that I haven't seen in a while and experience again the joy of the mall on Christmas eve. My friend Dave, in the spirit of Christmas, let me borrow the Marquis De Sade's "Philosophy of the Boudoir." I haven't read any of his work before, so this is opening a door to a whole new world of fun! Pictures of the holidays will follow.

There have been storms allThere have been storms all weekend in New York. Then the sun broke out this evening and a gigantic rainbow appeared outside our apartment window. It was bootiful and I snapped some shots, which you can find in the gallery.

Saw Crouching Tiger, Hidden DragonSaw Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon last night. In a stinky movie year, this was the best film by a long shot. As soon as we left the movie I wanted to watch it again, and it renewed my dormant Asian fetish ;) Woo-ping Yuen, the guy who did the Matrix fight scenes, did the fight choreography for Crouching Tiger. But besides the fight scenes, the plot is thick, the characters are well-developed, the dialogue is natural, and the cinematography is smokin. Last night I went toLast night I went to see Dark Days with, the soon to be infamous, Michael Elliott. It's a very interesting documentary by an English guy, Marc Singer, about a community of homeless people living in the abandaned Amtrak tunnels below Manhattan. This guy spent all of his money on equipment and was homeless for two years while shooting the film. Talk about dedication - but it payed off. He presents a compassionate view of their lives while not overdoing the emotional aspect, and manages to squeeze in some pretty hilarious scenes. DJ Shadow did the soundtrack pulling from the Endtroducing album, which was a perfect fit. If you get the chance, definitely check this one out. Tonite's movie is "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon." Ah so!

A good friend of mine,A good friend of mine, Ryan Geiss, has released a new version of his Drempels screensaver (Windows only). It's some pretty tripped out stuff, and the new version allows you to run it in the background of your desktop. I think that's a near first in the Windows world, but of course xlockmore has been doing this for years ;)

I got pressure from aI got pressure from a few individuals this weekend telling me that I suck at keeping this thing updated which is provably correct. A grand time was had by all on Saturday night when I met up with some of the Sapient crew in town from their various "sites." We started off at place called BARCODE in Times Square which is one of those places where you can't figure out why someone would go to when there isn't an open bar. We made quick work of leaving there and ending up at the Siberia bar which is *in* the 49th street NR station - it was more like someone's basement than a bar. Ahhhhh... perfect. Sunday was a day for getting up late and going to the gym that I recently joined in an effort to work off some startup pounds. On the way home, I ran into a small group of protesters, maybe 50 or so people. They had crucified Mickey Mouse and were carrying Starbucks signs that had been X'ed out. Their chant was, "New York's not a shopping mall, it's not a shopping mall <clank> <clank> !" Sorry guys, but aren't there more pertinent causes to be protesting, and isn't New York really just a big, hip shopping mall anyway? But it was definitely worth the Mickey Mouse crucification... that made my day :)
